IL-SEN: Hughes seeks conservative backing

The Chicago Daily Herald reported on Tuesday that Republican Senate candidate Patrick Hughes was making a trip to Washington to seek the support there of major conservative action groups. Additionally, Hughes is hoping to win the endorsements of two potential Republican Presidential candidates: former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. The Herald writes:
Hughes, who is making his first run for public office and has the backing of state anti-abortion rights organizations, is angling to be viewed as the more conservative alternative to U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk.
